Composition

• Monomer Matrix: Dimethacrylate and HEMA (Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate)

Basic Cementation Steps

1. Prepare the tooth and restoration according to the recommended bonding protocol.

2. Apply the cement to the internal surface of the restoration using an automix tip.

3. Seat the restoration and remove excess cement during the gel phase.

4. Light-cure margins, or allow the material to self-cure to complete polymerization.

5. Finish and polish margins as required.

Detailed Clinical Protocol

1. Removal of Temporary Restoration & Cleaning

• Remove any temporary cement residue using a polishing brush and an oil- and fluoride-free cleaning paste.

• Rinse thoroughly with a water spray.

• Dry using clean, oil- and water-free air (avoid over-drying).

2. Try-In of the Restoration

• Verify shade, fit, and occlusion.

• Make necessary adjustments using fine-grit diamond instruments (use caution with delicate ceramic restorations).

• For adhesive luting, ensure proper isolation—rubber dam or cotton rolls with saliva ejector.

3. Pre-Treatment of the Restoration

• Rinse the restoration with water and dry with oil-free air.

• Apply Ivoclean to the bonding surface using a brush; allow 20 seconds of reaction time.

• Rinse thoroughly and dry.

• For lithium disilicate or zirconia restorations:

  • Apply Monobond N to the cleaned bonding surface.

  • Allow to react for 60 seconds.

  • Disperse with a strong stream of air.

4. Mixing Multilink N Primer A & B

• Mix equal volumes of Multilink N Primer A and Primer B (1:1 ratio).

• The mixed primer is self-curing only and must be used within 10 minutes.

5. Application of Mixed Primer (A/B)

• Apply the mixed primer generously over the entire bonding surface—start with enamel.

• Scrub for 30 seconds using a micro brush.

• Air-disperse gently; do not light-cure.

6. Application of Multilink N to the Restoration

• Attach a new automix tip to the Multilink N syringe.

• Dispense the cement directly into the restoration.

• Use a new mixing tip for each subsequent application.

7. Placement & Removal of Excess Cement

• Seat the restoration firmly and maintain pressure.

• Remove excess cement immediately using:

  • Micro brush

  • Brush or foam pellet

  • Dental floss (interproximally)

  • Scaler

• If using self-curing + light-curing (quarter technique):

  • Light-cure excess in four segments for easier cleanup.

• After main cleanup, light-cure all margins again for 20 seconds each.

8. Final Finishing

• If needed, refine cement joints using fine preparation diamonds.

• Polish margins using appropriate polishers and finishing strips.

• Check occlusion and functional contacts; adjust as needed.
