Description

Ivoclar Te-Econom Plus is a light-cured, radiopaque universal hybrid composite for direct restorations in anterior and posterior teeth. Its sculptable consistency supports controlled placement, adaptation, and anatomical contouring before polymerisation.

Its working characteristics provide adequate time for shaping occlusal anatomy, proximal contours, and anterior morphology before light curing. Ivoclar classifies Te-Econom Plus as a light-cured, radiopaque hybrid composite for Class I–V restorations.

The radiopaque formulation supports differentiation of the restorative material from surrounding tooth structure during postoperative radiographic assessment. Its finishing and polishing characteristics make it suitable for selected functional posterior and aesthetic anterior restorations.

Te-Econom Plus is not self-adhesive. It must be placed over appropriately conditioned and bonded enamel and dentin and does not replace an etchant, bonding agent, liner, or flowable composite where these materials are clinically indicated.

Te-Econom Plus is a conventional incremental composite rather than a bulk-fill material. Each increment must be separately adapted and polymerised according to the current Ivoclar instructions, considering the selected shade, increment thickness, curing-light output, wavelength, and curing distance.

General Composition

The formulation generally contains:

  • Dimethacrylate resin matrix
  • TEGDMA
  • Barium glass fillers
  • Ytterbium trifluoride
  • Silicon dioxide
  • Mixed oxide fillers
  • Initiators

Directions to use
  1. Select the appropriate Te-Econom Plus shade before isolation, while the tooth remains hydrated.
  2. Isolate the treatment area adequately, preferably using a rubber dam where clinically appropriate.
  3. Prepare the cavity according to the requirements of the planned adhesive restoration.
  4. Clean the preparation and gently dry it without unnecessarily dehydrating the dentin.
  5. Apply appropriate pulp protection or a liner in deep preparations where clinically indicated.
  6. Place a matrix and wedge when required for proximal contour and contact formation.
  7. Condition and bond the enamel and dentin using a compatible adhesive system according to its instructions.
  8. Place a flowable composite or liner only where clinically indicated.
  9. Dispense Te-Econom Plus directly from the syringe using a clean restorative instrument.
  10. Apply the material in controlled increments according to the thickness permitted in the current Ivoclar instructions for the selected shade and curing unit.
  11. Adapt and contour each increment before curing.
  12. Polymerise every increment individually according to the selected shade, increment thickness, and curing-light output.
  13. Keep the curing-light tip as close as practical and correctly oriented towards the composite surface.
  14. Complete anatomical contouring, finishing, and polishing with suitable restorative instruments.
  15. Check proximal contacts, margins, and occlusion before completing the procedure.

For professional dental use only.

Additional Information

Clinical Considerations

  • Te-Econom Plus is not a self-adhesive restorative material.
  • Use an appropriate enamel and dentin adhesive system.
  • It is a conventional incremental composite and should not be used as a bulk-fill material.
  • Do not exceed the increment thickness permitted by the current Ivoclar instructions.
  • Curing time may start from 10 seconds only when the specified curing conditions are met.
  • Polymerisation time depends on shade, increment thickness, light intensity, wavelength, and curing distance.
  • Inadequate light curing may affect physical properties and restoration performance.
  • Avoid contamination with saliva, blood, or moisture after bonding.
  • A flowable liner is optional and should be used only where clinically indicated.
  • Use pulp-protection materials in deep preparations according to clinical requirements.
  • Do not use in patients with known hypersensitivity to methacrylate-based restorative materials or other listed components.
  • Avoid direct contact of uncured material with skin, oral soft tissues, and eyes.
  • Close the syringe immediately after dispensing.
  • Protect the composite from strong operatory and curing light during placement.
  • Use before the expiry date printed on the syringe or packaging.

Storage and Handling

  • Store according to the temperature range printed on the current Ivoclar packaging.
  • Protect the material from excessive heat, direct sunlight, and strong operatory light.
  • Replace the syringe cap immediately after dispensing.
  • Keep the syringe opening clean and free from contamination.
  • Do not use the material after its stated expiry date.
  • Do not use material that shows an abnormal consistency or evidence of contamination.
